Scientific Areas
Aligned with the strategic direction of our four Thematic Lines, INESC-ID’s research, development, and innovation span 10 Scientific Areas, covering a diverse range of topics in both Computer Science and Engineering and Electrical and Computer Engineering.
Each area, supported by approximately 8 to 10 researchers, possesses the critical mass and expertise needed to address topical problems within its domain. By amplifying and directing connections and scientific competences between the various areas, we foster synergies that enable us to effectively
and impactfully address today’s challenges. This collective strength drives our ambition to position INESC-ID as the leading research center for combined CSE+ECE in Portugal.
