Security and Privacy brings together research in cybersecurity, reliability, cryptography, privacy, risk, identity, and decentralisation to build a trustworthy, secure, and ethical digital society. With over 20 years of activity, our research combines theoretical depth with direct engagement with governments, public entities, and national companies.
We have supported the European Commission and the Portuguese government in developing security and privacy policies, while conducting research in quantum-resistant cryptography, homomorphic encryption, web and cloud protection, and privacy-preserving data analysis.
Our research focuses on:
▪ quantum-resistant cryptography and trusted computing
▪ web, cloud, and mobile application security
▪ privacy-preserving data analysis and identity management
