INESC-ID is governed by a Board of Directors and supported by the Scientific Council. The General Council provides institutional supervision, the Advisory Board independent strategic guidance, and the Thematic Lines Board coordinates research direction across our four Thematic Lines.

SCIENTIFIC COUNCIL
The Scientific Council comprises all PhD researchers at INESC-ID. Its Coordinating Committee handles strategic planning, evaluates annual budgets and activity plans, and oversees the internal evaluation system.

The General Council is INESC-ID’s supervisory body, composed of representatives from Instituto Superior Técnico, INESC, and the Scientific Council. It approves the annual activity plan, budget, and technical and financial reports.

The Advisory Board brings together seven international research experts who evaluate the institute annually and provide independent strategic guidance. It also decides on the INESC-ID Awards based on the Awards Committee’s recommendations.
