EquiVet.AI Workshop: Bringing AI into Veterinary Practice

The EquiVet.AI Project Workshop will showcase how AI technologies are being applied in real veterinary practice, from automatic clinical report generation using audio notes to equine clinical decision-support systems. Equivet.AI is led by INESC-ID.

The workshop will explore practical AI systems currently being deployed in veterinary workflows, NLP and image-processing approaches used in tools like VetScribe, EquiBreath, and Equiltch, Hands-on demos, and how interdisciplinary teams translate research into real clinical impact.

The programme will conclude with a Round Table (17h30–18h30) featuring experts in AI Ethics, Cybersecurity, and Law, discussing the challenges of building trustworthy AI systems for real-world clinical settings:

– Ethics: Helena Moniz (FLUL/CLUL/INESC-ID). President of the Ethics Committee of the Center for Responsible AI, and coordinator of the Bridge AI project, a Science4Policy initiative dedicated to the regulation of artificial intelligence.

– Cybersecurity: Nuno Santos (IST/INESC-ID). Member of the Distributed Systems Group, where he leads the Systems Security team. Expert in the field of Security and Privacy.

– Law: João Marques Martins (FDUL). Executive Coordinator of the postgraduate program “AI in Legal Practice and its Regulations” at the Faculty of Law, and a member of the teaching staff of the course “Responsible AI in Legal Practice” of the Portuguese Bar Association.
