Societal Digital Transformation explores how digital technologies shape (and are shaped by) society.

We investigate and develop technologies, systems and approaches that support informed decision-making, effective organisations and meaningful civic participation. Our research examines the interplay between technological capabilities, organisational arrangements and human practices, with particular attention to information, trust and governance. This includes how information is created, organised, preserved and used, and how these processes both influence and respond to societal needs.
Our research focuses on:
  • AI, data science, human-computer interaction, computer games, virtual agents, natural language processing, and trustworthy digital systems
  • business information systems, information lifecycle management, digital libraries and archives
  • organisational management, legal and administrative processes, education, culture, and public service delivery
