    Project IMPRESS: higher software quality through gamification in educational programs

    Improving engagement of students in software engineering courses is the goal of this new European Erasmus+ project. The researching team will tackle the problem by introducing gaming elements into software engineering training materials. A series of gamified reusable, and freely accessible multiplayer quizzes will be developed. These quizzes will be used live by the students in the classroom. Additionally, two interactive educational games will be developed covering practical aspects of formal specification and software quality assurance. The commitment of students is expected to increase due to the gamification techniques used in the approach. This effect will be assessed in a longitudinal study supported by learning analytics involving several pilots in courses of the associated universities in 4 different countries.

    INESC-ID new management bodies

    A new Board of Directors and a new Scientific Council Board were recently elected to the 2018-2019 biennium. The new Board of Directors is composed by: Leonel Sousa, Rodrigo Rodrigues, Luís Correia, Inês Lynce and Jorge Fernandes. The new Scientific Council Board will be led by Isabel Trancoso, supported by Vasco Manquinho and Paolo Romano.

    Signing Ceremony between INESC-ID and SPR

    The signing ceremony of the Cooperation Agreement between INESC-ID and the Portuguese Society of Rheumatology will take place on December 22 at 9:00 am in the meeting hall of the Central Pavilion at IST Alameda. This agreement establishes the terms of cooperation between INESC-ID and SPR in order to be granted, by SPR to INESC-ID, access to the REUMA.PT data for the development of R & D work related to the application of techniques of artificial intelligence and automatic learning to the processing of unstructured fields in this database, in order to infer new and relevant knowledge, from the medical point of view.
