    Science clubs, student projects, and a journey to Italy: “Engenharia para Todos” at the 3rd Oeiras Science Clubs Meeting and STEAM Innovation Festival 2026

    On April 29, Escola Secundária Camilo Castelo Branco in Carnaxide hosted a double celebration of science education: the III Encontro dos Clubes de Ciência de Oeiras and the Festival Nacional STEAM Innovation 2026 came together in a single afternoon, bringing over 200 students, teachers, and researchers under one roof.

    INESC-ID awarded €27.2 Million to Establish the Sustainable Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (SAIL) Centre of Excellence

    Led by INESC-ID, the Sustainable Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (SAIL) will be a transformative project that will upgrade INESC-ID into a world-class Centre of Excellence (CoE) dedicated to the development of state-of-the-art, sustainable, and trustworthy Artificial Intelligence. To achieve its goals, INESC-ID is teaming up with two of Europe’s leading AI institutions: the Max Planck Institute for Software Systems (MPI-SWS) and the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI).

    INESC-ID joins EARTO as Full European Member

    INESC-ID has officially joined the European Association of Research and Technology Organisations (EARTO) as a Full European Member, strengthening its position within the European research and innovation landscape. The institute now becomes part of a network of over 350 Research and Technology Organisations (RTOs) across 32 countries, representing more than 228,000 researchers, engineers and technicians.

    No longer invisible: PiCaSSo brings pediatric palliative care data to Portugal’s hospitals

    In Portugal, 7,828 children require palliative care. Their clinical data still lives in Excel spreadsheets, scattered across doctors and hospitals. Maria João Palaré, a specialist at Hospital de Santa Maria, decided it was time to change that.
